Nazare is a fishing port and holiday resort on the Silver Coast of Portugal. It lies between Lisbon and Porto and is famous among Portuguese and British alike for its great holiday facilities, superb fish restaurants and lovely promenade and beaches. Nazare is host to a fleet of boats that fishermen use to bring home their catch. While not so important or large as Peniche, it is still highly regarded locally and loved by the thousands of tourists that flock there every year to enjoy their summer holiday on the beaches and in the streets and lanes of Nazare. If the idea of staying in a fishing port does not actually appeal to you then don't be concerned, the town bustles each year and is one of the best to be found on the Silver Coast .

The surfing to be had on the Silver Coast is famous throughout the world and now, recently the waves of Nazare have become even more famous due to a spectacular feat of courage and skill. A new world record has been set by Garrett Macnamara at Nazare after he rode a wave of 90ft and video of this event has become a viral sensation on youtube. So there's a great reason to book your holiday in Nazare and pack all ones surfing equipment and travel to the Silver Coast.
There is a very good supply of rentals and all types of accommodation all around Nazare and the surrounding area that will present you with an opportunity to get really close to the action. Naturally, you may want to be in a quiet place like in the countryside where you can find cheap bed and breakfast for example and of many different villas, apartments or hotels.
There are going to be a a lot of tourists and holiday makers in Nazare during the traditional high months of summer, sometimes the less busy months at the weekend if the sun comes out and is sufficiently hot for the Portuguese to venture out. That is only to be expected, it would be the same in Brighton, Bournemouth and Eastbournr in the UK... but should you reserve your family break for one of the least busy times such as June, September or October, you would still probably have very nice weather and hence, less busy beaches. However, if you prefer the sights and sounds of a host of people having a great time, then book a holiday in July or August. It is of course going to work out much more pricey, the holiday atmosphere is much greater and excitement is palpable.
